Coffee & Lunch Spot: Brooklyn Coffee & TOKEN Pizza. Namba, Osaka.

Where Brooklyn at? In Namba, apparently. Well, at least a taste of it is. The most American-feeling establishment I've found in Japan so far. This one's a twofer, with TOKEN Eatery Bar Pizzeria and Brooklyn Coffee sharing the same dining space.

One of the few places I've found that allows you to work on your site, screenplay, deck, pitch, what-have-you, for hours on end with no feeling of shame. Just like back in the States.

Pizza by the slice, with a Moutain Dew (first time seeing that drink here). While it did look like the pizza from my old stomping grounds (Bacci's), the taste was a bit subdued. That's often the play here, as to make stronger flavors more palatable for Japanese tongues.

Of course, there's coffee. And lots of it. With most of it going over my head.

They also sell numerous syrups and beans (roasted right in the shop). More from that to come in a future post.

Cortada.

Iced Cocoa.

First time seeing this here.

If this was a neighborhood joint, I'd be in several times a week. There aren't many places here where you can work on your laptop without feeling like you're taking up space. Also, they sell day-old frozen pizza slices for half price. I think I'd probably prefer them that way.
